Privacy by Design
Privacy by Design is a concept developed by Ann Cavoukian in 2009 in Toronto, and continues to be relevant today as a pillar of GDPR.
The ePrivacy regulation complements GDPR, which became effective in May 2018, when it comes to protecting personal data in the specific context of electronic communications (e.g. cookies legislation).
The DPO ensures that the company and its subcontractors (called “data processors”) are in compliance when it comes to exploiting personal data, no matter the end use (commercial, internal, etc.).
The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the latest European regulation on personal data protection, which was enacted in 2016.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) are specific information that allow an individual to be identified in a direct or indirect way.
