A Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) is what is known in ordinary usage as the address of a webpage. It is the set of characters that allows users to identify a resource based either on its location (URL) or on its name (URN). Most of the time, a URI is made up of a URL and of one or several URNs. For instance, www.teahouse.fifty-five.com/fr/ is a URI, where “http://teahouse.fifty-five.com” is the URL, and “/fr/” is a URN.
