Privacy by Design

Privacy by Design is a concept developed by Ann Cavoukian in 2009 in Toronto, and continues to be relevant today as a pillar of GDPR.

The concept consists of taking the ethical and regulatory considerations of user privacy into account from the early design stage of a product or service. This ensures that data processing is consistent and compliant across the board, and anticipates all steps of the process in order to respect the main principles of privacy protection. Privacy by Design is thus both proactive and preventative.
