Data warehouse

A data warehouse is a storage tool for structured data, which is segmented depending on a company’s departments. All information required for corporate decision-making is housed in the warehouse, and distributed by job.

This huge “warehouse” has many different categories, called data marts. For example, within a warehouse, we may find a commercial mart, marketing mart, or HR mart.

Data warehouses are not to be confused with data lakes, a more recent technology which can store unstructured data.
